Event:Black Lunch Table event in Rwanda 2025-2026/ Training series
This event aims to Amplify black artists voices through open knowledge : Wiki Common Edithaton& Translation of wikipedia Articles training sessions Participants will be trained on how to capture good picture, upload, and properly categorize high-quality images of African Black artists especially Rwandan artists, Translation sessions
Through the above sessions, participants will gain nkowledge:
- How to translate a wikipedia article from one language to another, they will do a lot of practices
- They will learn best practices for photography and image licensing on Wikimedia Commons.
- Uploading and categorizing media files effectively to make them discoverable and useful for educators, researchers, and the global community.
By the end of the workshop, participants will not only have developed practical skills but will also become part of a growing network of contributors dedicated to preserving and sharing Africa’s rich cultural history on open knowledge platforms.

Event description
[edit]The “How to Contribute on Wikimedia Commons” session is a practical and beginner-friendly training designed to introduce participants to Wikimedia Commons, the free media repository that supports Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. During the session, participants learn how to create an account, understand free licenses, upload photos, images, audio or videos correctly, add descriptions and categories, and avoid common copyright mistakes.
