Event:Bridging Access:Mapping Maternal & Child Health Facilities in Ikwerre LGA Rivers State
Bridging Access: Mapping Maternal & Child Health Facilities in Ikwerre is a project that empowers women, particularly nursing mothers and mothers of young children in the Ikwerre community of Rivers State, Nigeria, with the digital skills needed to participate meaningfully in Wikimedia spaces. Drawing from my lived experience as both a nursing mother and a Wikimedian, the project uses women’s everyday realities, antenatal visits, child healthcare, and routine hospital use as an entry point for engagement. By focusing on the health centres and hospitals they already use, participants will learn to document, photograph, and share information about these facilities, including their locations and basic details, on Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata, making this information visible and accessible beyond their local communities, where such data is often missing or difficult to find online.

Jury Process
[edit]This project emphasizes capacity building, skill development, and sustained engagement. Winners will be recognized based on several qualitative and quantitative factors:
- Consistency: Regular participation in both onsite and online sessions.
- Active Contribution: Number and quality of uploads to Wikimedia Commons and number of items created or improved on Wikidata.
- Accuracy and Completeness: Proper use of titles, captions, descriptions, and adherence to templates.
- Collaboration and Support: Helping fellow participants solve challenges and sharing knowledge learned.
- Skill Growth: Demonstrated improvement in digital literacy, ability to attend meetings independently, and effective use of Wikimedia tools.
