[edit]On December 13, 2025, the Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda is hosting the Community Mega Wikipedia Edit-a-thon 2025 at Hive Colab, Kanjokya Street. The event will bring together 60 participants to improve over 500 Ugandan stub articles on Wikipedia. The focus will be on expanding content, adding references, images, categories, and infoboxes, strengthening the coverage of Ugandan knowledge, and empowering new contributors.

Background
[edit]The Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda continues to promote free knowledge and community participation through trainings and edit-a-thons. Building on previous successful activities, this general edit-a-thon will focus on improving Wikipedia articles about Uganda that are currently categorized as stubs. The Community Organising Team (CoT) has identified over 500 stub articles that require expansion and improvement. This event will provide practical skills to participants while directly enhancing the quality and visibility of Ugandan content on Wikipedia.
Objectives
[edit]- To train 60 participants in editing and improving stub articles.
- To expand content coverage of Ugandan topics on Wikipedia.
- To add missing references and ensure reliability of information.
- To insert internal Wiki links for better navigation.
- To add images, categories, and infoboxes to enrich articles.
- To strengthen the Wikimedia community in Uganda through collaboration and shared learning.
Activities

- Introduction to Wikipedia editing basics.
- Demonstration on how to expand stub articles.
- Editing Sprint
- Participants work on identified stub articles.
- Focus on adding references, links, images, categories, and infoboxes.
- Showcase & Recognition
- Launch of a one‑week competition focused on expanding and improving articles.
- 19th December: end of competition
- 20th December: Announcing of top contributors and giving away of prizes and gifts.
Expected Outcomes
