The Wikivoyage event is a project where every participant will be taught how to create and improve the content on transportation and recreational centers on Wikivoyage and English Wikipedia, to promote travel information and tourism in Nigeria, Ghana, and Tanzania.

The key goals

Improve Wikivoyage’s representation of African food, ensuring the aspect of African identity are well-documented. Increase the visibility of African food on Wikipedia and Wikidata.

How to participate

• Articles must be in the mainspace by the end of the competition period.
• All entries are expected to be fully sourced, with no unsourced claims. Wikivoyage does not cite sources, but it does include links to restaurants, transportation businesses, hotels, and other tourist attractions. Try to make the formatting consistent with dates and layout; clean, useful new entries are what the contest is about.
• It is important that before starting new entries, you take the time to read Wikivoyage:What is an article?
• Articles should comply with the Wikivoyage:Quick contribution guide and Wikivoyage:Welcome to be acceptable on Wikivoyage.
• Take extra care to avoid paraphrasing and copyright violations. While producing a lot of content, it is sometimes difficult to avoid sentences that do not resemble something in a source but it is important that the articles are without problems and will stick around on Wikivoyage for a long time.
• No automated, semi-automated tools, scripts or manual templates to mass generate content are permitted for the contest. Any indication that editors are cheating by using a cookie-cutter template or script to mass-generate through lists may lead to disqualification.

Jury Process

To qualify for prizes, participants must create at least two (2) new Wikivoyage articles or improve eight (8) existing articles, and contribute a minimum of 20,000 bytes, and submit all required contribution to the google form provided. All edits must comply with Wikivoyage guidelines and copyright policies. Reverted/deleted changes won’t be included. Participants who do not meet these minimum requirements will not be eligible for prize consideration:

Wikivoyage

• Creating a new Wikivoyage article with at least 3000 bytes – 10 points
• ⁠Improvements of already created article with at least 1500 bytes – 3 points
• ⁠Adding images to the already existing article – 1 point
