Welcome to the Learning clinic Safe Spaces, Strong Voices: Advancing Inclusion through the UCoC! Organised by the Let's Connect in collaboration with Trust and Safety Team of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Event Description

Safe Spaces, Strong Voices: Advancing Inclusion through the UCoC is a Learning Clinic designed to enhance participants’ understanding of the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC), with a focus on its role in fostering gender equity and creating inclusive spaces within the Wikimedia Movement. This interactive session will provide a guided space for participants to explore the practical applications of the UCoC, particularly in gender-sensitive contexts, while encouraging collaborative discussions on advancing equity and safety for all contributors.

The clinic will also offer an opportunity to learn directly from Trust & Safety experts, who will share insights on how the UCoC supports safer, more inclusive Wikimedia spaces and how community members can actively contribute to its effective implementation.

This space will allow us to confirm your participation on Monday March 24th at 1:00 PM UTC, as we prepare to make your experience great with our Sharers.

👉 What is this Learning Clinic for?

• This Learning Clinic is designed to:
  • Enhance awareness and practical understanding of the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) in gender-sensitive contexts.
  • Encourage a collaborative and action-oriented approach to gender equity within the Wikimedia Movement.
  • To foster connections between Wikimedians and the UCoC team, exploring opportunities for ongoing collaboration and support in advancing UCoC adoption within their communities.

• You are encouraged to explore the :
  • Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) policy text
  • UCoC Enforcement Guidelines
  • Information on the UCoC Coordinating Committee (U4C)

👉 Learning Outcomes

• • Increased awareness and understanding of gender equity gaps on Wikipedia platforms and the UCoC’s contribution to bridging these gaps and improving gender inclusion.
  • An understanding of the role the UCoC plays in creating a safe and inclusive space and a welcoming environment for all contributors to participate in contributing to the sum of all human knowledge.
  • Increased awareness and understanding of the UCoC, Enforcement guidelines and the U4C as well as how to to identify report and address unacceptable behaviors on our platforms such as sexual harassment, doxing, trolling etc.
