Introduction of the campaign

The AfroCreatives WikiProject/Afro Creatives WikiProject +film Ghana Edition is a national campaign under the broader AfroCreatives WikiProject, initiated through a collaboration between Open Foundation West Africa and the Wikimedia Foundation. This edition is designed to mobilize Ghanaian film creatives, industry professionals, and enthusiasts to contribute to and improve Wikipedia content related to the art, history, and ecosystem of Ghanaian cinema. The goal is to bridge knowledge gaps and ensure that the diverse stories, people, and institutions that shape Ghana’s film industry are well-represented and accessible on the world's largest free knowledge platform.

Focus Topics

Through this campaign, contributors will help enhance Wikipedia’s coverage of:

- The history and evolution of Ghanaian cinema

- Biographies of notable Ghanaian filmmakers, actors, producers, and other creatives

- Iconic films and television series produced in or by Ghanaians

- Film studios, streaming platforms, awards, festivals, guilds, and training institutions

- Advances in animation, AR, VR, and other emerging technologies in the industry

Afro Creative Wiki Projects Ghana Edition Workshop

In the lead-up to the campaign, participants are encouraged to join an Hybrid Launch & Training session to learn how to contribute to Wikipedia and other Wiki projects, or if already familiar with editing, to refresh their skills.

Dates: Friday - August 15, 2025.

Time: 10am - 3:30pm.

Venue: Open Foundation West Africa (Ground Floor, Sal Heights [GA-162-2157], adjacent Dimensa Restaurant, Abelenkpe, Accra).
