This project is designed to systematically document, preserve, and amplify the rich cultural and historical heritage of Offa through strategic contributions across Wikimedia platforms. At its core, the initiative will focus on creating new and improving existing Wikipedia articles, developing structured data on Wikidata, and uploading high-quality, well-documented images to Wikimedia Commons. By doing so, it seeks to transform scattered local knowledge into accessible, verifiable, and globally visible digital resources.

The scope of the project is deliberately comprehensive. It will cover a wide range of heritage assets, including historical artefacts, public infrastructure, old railway stations, palaces, schools, markets, hotels, recreational centres, and notable tourist sites. In addition, it will spotlight prominent personalities from Offa, particularly past and present royal fathers, whose contributions remain central to the town’s identity and continuity. Beyond physical and biographical documentation, the project will also capture the vibrancy of Offa’s cultural life by documenting festivals and significant community events, ensuring that both tangible and intangible heritage are preserved.

To promote inclusivity and strengthen indigenous knowledge representation, selected content will be translated into the Yoruba language. This approach not only broadens access for native speakers but also reinforces linguistic preservation within the digital knowledge ecosystem.

A key innovation within this project is the integration of QR code technology. Strategically placed QR codes, linked directly to relevant Wikipedia articles, will be installed in high-visibility public locations such as palaces, local government secretariats, and libraries. This will serve as a bridge between the physical environment and digital knowledge, enabling residents and visitors to instantly access reliable information. In doing so, the project actively combats misinformation, enhances public engagement with verified content, and positions Offa as a model for community-driven digital heritage preservation.
