Wikimedians of Kerala User Group was organized a photowalk at Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary. This event focused on capturing high-quality photographs of flora and fauna of Thattekkad. This event was organised as a part of Wiki Loves Earth 2026 in India. These photos will help to enhance Wikipedia articles.
Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary
[edit]Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary covering an area of barely 25 km2 along the banks of the Periyar River in Kerala, India. Often referred to as the Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, it holds the distinction of being Kerala's first bird sanctuary. This sanctuary, praised by the renowned ornithologist Salim Ali, is home to over 270 bird species. This place is home to 15 amphibian species and 47 fish species thrive in the riverine and marshy zones. 34 species of mammals including the Indian Elephant, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Indian Giant Squirrel, and various primates live here.
