Event:WMA Tool Series - ActorNet Spotlight Session
ActorNet is an exciting tool created from scratch during the Wiki Mentor Africa Hackathon 2025. It uses Wikidata to help you explore connections between actors and the movies they have worked on together.
You can:
- Search for an actor
- See other actors they've appeared with
- View the films they acted in together
ActorNet makes use of Wikidata’s structured data to visualize relationships in the world of film, making movie data fun and interactive to explore.
This session is part of our tool spotlight series - designed to showcase tools developed during the hackathon and help build a community of contributors around them.
We will:
- Demo how ActorNet works
- Learn how it uses Wikidata
- Show how you can contribute (as a dev or data contributor)
- Discuss ideas to improve and grow the tool
How to Participate
[edit]Whether you are a Wikidata editor, developer, or just curious about tools that make Wikidata more useful - you are welcome to join! Participation is open to all and the session will follow the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) and the Friendly Space Policy.
To participate, follow these steps:
- Login to your Wikimedia account (if you are not already logged in).
- Click the Register for Event button above to register
- (Optional) Set a reminder on your calendar so you don't miss it.
