Online sources for referencing and illustrating articles on Australian military history

Abstract/description

In this session I'll share what I've learned in over 20 years of finding online references and images for articles covering Australian military history. This will include a discussion of the 'grey literature' on Australian military history, as it is an unusually fruitful area, as well as better known journal and online book databases. It will also cover the gaps that exist in online sourcing at present. In addition, the talk will cover good practices in locating images to illustrate articles on Australian military history and the modern Australian Defence Force, and also the gaps facing Wikipedia editors.

Relationship to Wikimedia Australia, Wiki skills, the Wikmedia Movement

Participants will learn more about the types of online resources that are available to develop Wikipedia articles on Australian history, with a focus on military history.
