Wiki Exploration Malappuram: Bus Stops Documentation Project Wiki Exploration Malappuram is a community-driven initiative to document the bus stops across Malappuram district, Kerala by capturing photographs and uploading them to Wikimedia Commons. The aim is to enrich Wikimedia platforms with visual data of local transportation infrastructure that often goes undocumented.

Goals

• Capture and upload clear images of bus stops across Malappuram. • Categorize and geotag images on Wikimedia Commons. • Connect images to corresponding Wikidata items.

Scope of the Project

• Geographical Focus: Entire Malappuram district – urban, semi-urban, rural, coastal, and hill areas. • What to Document: o KSRTC-operated bus shelters o Panchayat/municipal stops o Informal or community-built waiting points o Junction and market-side stops • Visual Elements: Include shelter, signboard, surroundings, local language signage, and accessibility features (if any).

Importance

• Most bus stops are missing in open repositories. • Aids in Wikipedia/Wikidata coverage of transportation in Kerala. • Useful for researchers, journalists, planners, and students. • Encourages local youth and photographers to engage with open knowledge platforms.

How to Participate
