Event:Wiki Loves Public Domain/Wikipedia
Introduction
[edit]Wiki Loves Public Domain seeks to expand the coverage of creators whose works are entering the public domain. Our goal is to create or enhance biographies of these individuals before their works officially enter the public domain. This proactive approach ensures that a comprehensive article about the creator is readily available, allowing for immediate enrichment with public domain media once their works become freely usable. This effort increases the visibility and accessibility of their biographies and contributions.
Scope & rules for participation
[edit]For the Wikipedia part of the Wiki Loves Public Domain (WLPD) competition, you can participate in two ways:
- create an article about a creator
- add to an existing article about a creator
Rules for participation
[edit]Because the competitions focuses on cultural heritage, your contribution needs to be:
- about a creator that is entering the public domain on january 1st 2026 (having passed away in 1955)

- contributions must be done within the competition period (from 1 October to 31 December 2025)
- add your contribution to the result list
