Event:Wiki Loves Ramadan 2025/Egypt
Wiki Loves Ramadan 2025 in Egypt is a series of events organized as a collaborative effort by the Egypt Wikimedia User Group, Wiki Loves Folklore & Wiki Loves Ramadan, with the assistance of the Adasa photo club.
Timeline
[edit]- The event is active from 15th February until 31 March as a celebration of Wiki Loves Folklore with local prizes to the top three participants (3000, 2000, 1000 EGP)
- An online campaign is organised during Ramadan by the Wiki Loves Ramadan coordinator (Yasmeen) on the social media pages of the Egypt Wikimedian User Group to increase the awareness of influential female characters in Islam, to raise awareness of women's achievements in March to celebrate women!
- On 12th Ramadan (12th March), a photowalk is organised:
- as a collaboration of Egypt Wikimedia User Group (represented by Wiki Loves Ramadan coordinator (Yasmeen) & Wiki Loves Folklore coordinator (Summer)) & Adasa photo club (led by Alaa ElBasha).
- On 22nd Ramadan (22nd March), an Iftar and a meeting are organised:
- Egypt Wikimedian User Group held a communal iftar on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Cairo University Rowing Club in Dokki, for the group's members. It also held a meeting between the members following the Iftar.
- On 10th May, an exhibition was held:
- Egypt Wikimedian User Group held Wiki Loves Folklore Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo. This ceremony was part of an exhibition showcasing the winning entries from the Wiki Loves Folklore contest and other outstanding entries, most of which focused on Egyptian folklore during Ramadan, including the winning photos below.
