Wiki Mentor Africa - Women Tech Summit (WMA-WTS)

    About the Summit

    [edit]

In today's digital ecosystem, the Tech space has always been viewed as a male-dominated space with little or no active participation from the female gender. Not only that, in the African context, a typical African woman is greatly disadvantaged in the social space, not to mention the technical space. Hence, there are fewer female representations in tech and poor visibility when it comes to global impact.

The Wiki Mentor Africa Women Tech Summit (WMA-WTS) is a brand new annual flagship event by Wiki Mentor Africa created specifically for women and girls who want to develop technical skills in the Wikimedia open-source ecosystem. This is to help bridge the gap and empower women and girls with the right technical skills that will support them in connecting the dots in the tech world and be able to make a global impact. The WMA Team, through this project, is working to build synergy for African women through technical mentorship and engagement in the Wikimedia space.

All technical training sessions will be delivered concurrently in English and French by dedicated trainers (not through interpretation). Participants can choose whichever language and domain (Documentation, Design, or Coding) best suits their interest.

    Important Notes

    [edit]
    • The entire summit is beginner-friendly and designed to be motivating, supportive, and non-intimidating.
    • All sessions emphasize hands-on learning and practical skills.
    • Registration is open to all Women and Girls interested just click on the registration button.
    • We strongly encourage women and girls from all African countries to join and invite their friends, sisters, colleagues, and neighbours who may be interested.
