Event:WikiClub Cebu Herstorya

Background

WikiClub Cebu, in partnership with the Cebu City Public Library will celebrate the International Women's Month with HERstorya. "Herstorya" — a portmanteau of 'history,' the Cebuano word 'istorya' (story), and the pronoun 'her' — aims to address the significant underrepresentation of Cebuano women in arts and media on Wikipedia, the world's largest free knowledge platform. The event will bring together 20 to 30 diverse participants for a full day of Wikipedia and Wikidata training, hands-on editing, cultural documentation, and community celebration.

Activities

A Day of Learning, Creating, and Celebrating

The program runs from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, combining five distinct Wikimedia community activities: WikiWomen editing sessions, Basic AI Literacy, to document local cultural heritage, the official launch of the Wiki Press (WikiCovers Events community), and an evening WikiExpedition (WikiNights) celebration featuring cultural performances and recognition of contributors.

The event is explicitly designed to welcome first-time Wikipedia contributors. Training sessions will cover the basics of Wikipedia article writing and Wikidata item creation, using real examples of missing or stub articles about Cebuano women in arts and media.

If you wish to stay afer the edit- a thon and join the Wikiexpedition and Wikiwomen Cebu Meetup, you are required to register.

Once registered, we will assign an article for you to edit.
