Background
[edit]Iligan is a highly urbanized city in Northern Mindanao located in the Province of Lanao del Norte, but it is an independent city. Iligan is known as the industrial center of the south and the city of majestic waterfalls.
Home of the Tri-people
[edit]The city's most significant and inspiring story is its identity as a "melting pot." It is home to the "Tri-People"—the indigenous Higaonon, the Muslim Maranao, and the Christian settler (mostly Cebuano) communities—who have lived and worked together for generations. The Higaonon are the original inhabitants of the area.
