Project Overview
[edit]Wikimedia Awareness Training for the National Association of Ibeno Students is an education-focused initiative designed to introduce students to Wikimedia projects and their role in promoting open knowledge. The project will engage participants through awareness sessions, virtual and in-person trainings, and hands-on editing activities covering Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons. It aims to address low awareness, common misconceptions about Wikipedia’s reliability, and the limited use of Wikimedia platforms among students. By equipping participants with the skills to access, evaluate, and responsibly contribute knowledge, the project will nurture a community of young contributors who can share stories, document local knowledge, and improve the representation of Nigeria , Akwa Ibom State, Ibeno and related educational content online
