Wikimedians of Kerala is conducting a workshop at Kerala Museum, Kochi on 22 June 2025. This unique initiative aims to bridge the gap between digital knowledge sharing and the preservation of cultural heritage, offering participants a hands-on experience in documenting and contributing to the Wikimedia projects.

[edit]On June 22, 2025, Wikimedians of Kerala successfully hosted a Wikimedia Folklore Workshop at the Kerala Museum as part of the the follow up activity of Wiki Loves Folklore 2025 in India. This initiative aimed to bridge the gap between digital knowledge sharing and the crucial preservation of cultural heritage, offering 14 participants hands-on experience in contributing to Wikimedia projects.

The workshop focused on essential skills: understanding Wikimedia platforms like Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, adding structured data to media files on Commons to enhance discoverability, and improving Wikipedia articles by incorporating media files and reliable citations.
The participant's efforts yielded significant results: 60 existing articles were udpated, and a total of ~4k edits were made. Beyond the numbers, the impact was clear. The contributed content garnered an estimated 1.53 thousand article views, demonstrating immediate public reach. The participants has added the images which been uploaded thought the previous iterations of the Wiki Loves Folklore events to the the Wikipedia articles in different langauges. The Wikidata items was also enriched with the images.
