Event:Wikimedia Nigeria Imo State Network Q3 Campaigns 2026/1Lib1Ref (June) - OWR NNFP

The #1Lib1Ref campaign is a global movement focused on strengthening Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects through the addition of reliable references and citations. It encourages learning, amplifies underrepresented voices, and promotes the sharing of knowledge and stories across Wikimedia platforms. The campaign also provides contributors with an opportunity to improve the accuracy, credibility, and accessibility of free knowledge for people around the world.

As part of this initiative, our focus will be on English Wikipedia and English Wikiquote articles that relate directly or indirectly to humanitarian work and humanitarian-related occupations. Participants will improve these articles by adding reliable citations and references, helping to ensure that humanitarian stories, organizations, events, occupations, and notable individuals across Africa are well documented and supported by credible sources.

How to participate

Make sure you belong to a group.

Complete all tasks (articles with missing references) assigned to you within your group.

To earn more points in the contest, you may take on tasks assigned to other members of your group only after completing your own tasks. Once all tasks within your group have been completed, you are free to assist other groups that still have outstanding tasks.

Find a reliable source that supports the information in the article.

Add the citation using Wikipedia's referencing style.

Include the project hashtags #1Lib1Ref and #1Lib1RefOWR in your Wikipedia edit summary.
