Description
[edit]Wikimedia Rwanda (OSK Rwanda) and New York University Abu Dhabi Edit-a-thon is a collaborative initiative aiming to bridge gaps in open knowledge about Africa's data and technology information. This partnership brings together NYU Abu Dhabi students attending a regional academic seminar in Kigali, ALU students, and experienced Wikimedia Rwanda (OSK Rwanda) members. The participants will work on creating, editing, and translating content for Wikimedia projects in multiple languages, including English, French, and other native languages of participants. This initiative will be nurturing cross-cultural learning and strengthening bonds between academic institutions and local Wikimedia communities.
General Objective
[edit]To improve the representation of African perspectives on data and technology on Wikimedia Foundation projects like Wikipedia and others sister projects by facilitating a collaborative edit-a-thon between Wikimedia Rwanda (OSK Rwanda), New York University Abu Dhabi, and African Leadership University students.
