Community call brings CapX to the centre of Wikimedia Uganda usergroup conversations

On 20 August 2026, members of the Wikimedia Uganda usergroup will gather online for a dedicated community call with the Capacity Exchange (CapX) team. The focus is understanding how CapX can help make local skills visible, connect peers more easily, and support organisers who are already juggling campaigns, trainings and partnerships.

Date: 20 August 2026 • Time: 16:30–18:00 UTC • Platform: Jitsi community call
Topic: The Capacity Exchange tool and initiative

Why this call matters for Uganda

From Kampala meetups to regional campaigns, Wikimedians in Uganda are constantly experimenting, teaching and building. But the capacity behind these efforts often lives in spreadsheets, private chats or people’s memories. CapX was built to change that, to provide a shared place where communities can describe what they can offer and what they need.

This community call is a chance to look at CapX through a Ugandan lens, asking what works, what does not, and how the tool can be shaped to support real organising, not just theory.

What will happen during the call?

We start by grounding ourselves in the current reality. Wikimedia Uganda usergroup organisers will briefly share ongoing projects, upcoming plans and the kinds of support they wish they had more easily.

Then the CapX team will walk through the tool, not as a generic demo but using examples that reflect Ugandan needs. Expect to see how to publish capacities, look for peers, request help and follow up after exchanges.

The second half of the call is reserved for open conversation. Participants can ask questions, critique the tool, propose new features and suggest ways CapX could be woven into Wikimedia Uganda usergroup workflows and onboarding processes.
