About the Event
[edit]As part of the Wikipedia@25 celebrations, this online training session introduces contributors—particularly those active on Wikidata—to Wikipedia article editing.
The session aims to support participants in transitioning from structured data contributions to improving encyclopedia content.
Participants will learn:
- Wikipedia editing basics
- Notability and reliable sourcing
- Article improvement techniques
A hands-on editing session will focus on improving selected UK-related articles, particularly topics connected to diaspora communities and underrepresented histories.
Objectives

- Strengthen the contributor pipeline for UK-related content
- Improve selected UK-related articles collaboratively
- Encourage continued participation after the session
Worklist
[edit]A dedicated worklist has been prepared to guide participants during the training session.
The worklist contains selected articles related to notable British Nigerians and the contributions of the Nigerian diaspora to the United Kingdom. Participants are encouraged to improve references, expand content, strengthen article structure, and enhance links with Wikidata.
