Event:Wikipedia@25 in Moncton

Moncton Wiki Club, as part of its continued efforts to create awareness of Wikimedia and its sister projects in Moncton, will be organising an in-person event in 2026 to mark Wikipedia’s 25th birthday and to support the global #1lib1ref campaign. This event builds on a series of online 1lib1ref online training conducted from 19th-21st December and will bring together at least 20 participants for an in person citation-a-thon during the Wikipedia birthday celebration.

The event will include short introductions to Wikimedia and its sister projects for new recruits, collaborative activities focused on adding citations to improving articles, most especially articles related to Moncton and Atlantic Canada. Recruiting at least 10 new editors and improving articles using the Citation Hunt tool, and celebrating Wikipedia’s 25th anniversary while strengthening the local Wikimedia community network.

The four-hour in person event will take place on the 08th of February and also includes prizes for top contributors, light programming (icebreakers and board games), and a birthday celebration with cake.
