Kerala Legislature International Book Festival 2026

The Wikimedians of Kerala community along with Sahya Digital Conservation Foundation is participating in the 4th edition of the Kerala Legislature International Book Festival (KLIBF 2026), taking place from January 7^th to 13^th 2026 at the Kerala Legislative Assembly complex, Thiruvananthapuram.

Wikipedia was launched on 15 January 2001 and completes 25 years in 2026, marking a key milestone for the global free knowledge movement. As part of the worldwide Wikipedia 25 celebrations you can see the highlights of Wikipedia's journey, its impact in Malayalam and other languages.

Our Wikimedia stall (B195) invites everyone to explore the world of free knowledge, open data, and collaborative learning, connecting readers, students, and institutions with the Wikimedia movement. Thanks, Team Prasadhakan (പ്രസാധകൻ), Mr. Shagil, and Mr. Riju for for getting us a space.

What to Expect at the Wikimedia Stall

Visitors can engage with Wikimedians and learn about:

Wikipedia — how anyone can edit and share knowledge in Malayalam and English and other languages.
Wikidata — the open knowledge base that powers information across Wikimedia projects and beyond.
Wikimedia Commons — the global repository of freely shareable media files.
Wikisource — Malayalam literary and historical texts available freely for all.
Community campaigns like Wiki Loves Birds, Wiki Loves Onam, Wiki Loves Earth, and Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos.
Information about Wikiproject Niyamasabha; a iniatives to create, improve, update every MLA person from 1st to 15th KLAs.
OpenDataKerala - A community driven open data initiative for Kerala State in India

Interactive Demos and Activities

The stall will feature:

Live demonstrations of editing Wikipedia and contributing to Wikidata.
Guided introductions to free-licensed multimedia uploading on Wikimedia Commons.
Interactive tools developed by the community.
Open data visualization demos and small hands-on sessions for new contributors.
