Overview

Wikipedia stands as one of the most influential initiatives in the history of open and collaborative knowledge. Since its launch on 15 January 2001, it has grown into the world’s largest free encyclopedia, created and sustained by a global community of volunteers committed to the idea that knowledge should be freely accessible to all.

To commemorate this milestone, WikiClub Tech MUJ (Manipal University Jaipur) organized the Wikipedia 25 B Day Celebration. The event brought together students, contributors, and knowledge enthusiasts to reflect on Wikipedia’s journey, understand the Wikimedia movement, and encourage active participation in the open knowledge ecosystem.

As part of the celebration, additional academic and engagement activities were conducted to expand participation and learning opportunities within the university community. The activities were organized during the TECHIDATE 2026 period at Manipal University Jaipur.

The celebration marked 25 years of Wikipedia — highlighting learning, community participation, and the spirit of free knowledge.

Wikipedia 25th Birthday Celebration

Talk: Turning Ideas into Real Products

As part of the Wikipedia 25 celebration activities, WikiClub Tech MUJ hosted a talk titled “Turning Ideas into Real Products.” The session explored identifying real-world problems, validating ideas, and building solutions that address user needs. Pixel to Product: Hackathon

In alignment with the celebration, WikiClub Tech MUJ conducted a beginner-friendly “Pixel to Product” hackathon. Participants engaged in collaborative design thinking, prototyping, and solution-building exercises aimed at transforming ideas into workable demonstrations.
