Event:Wikiwomen Davao Launch
WikiClub Davao will meet again in person to launch the Wikiwomen Davao event in line with the International Women's Month.
In celebration of Women’s Month, we are excited to launch “𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐀𝐈”—a meaningful initiative that brings together passionate women committed to preserving and revitalizing our rich cultural heritage, offering three Wikimedia-powered initiatives, open to both men and women who share the same advocacy, that aim to rewrite Davao’s presence on the global internet, live and in real time

Background
[edit]The newest wikiclub to join the community of Wikmedians is the Wikiclub Davao. Housed at the University of the Immaculate Concepcion ( UIC) , the group of Wikimedians already did an online editing workshop in 2025. By popular request, a similar group like that of Wikiclub Zamboanga will be capacitated to lead the WikiClub Davao, the second active community in Mindanao. Shared Knowledge Asia Pacific Inc., (SKAP)has been leading the capacity development and providing for the trainings and workshop for WikiClub Davao.
Activity
[edit]To participate in the Celebrate Women global events, we will launch Wikiwomen Davao on March 25 at UIC. Participants will have to edit women content on Wikipedia and translate them into local languages. New articles will alsi be created for Davaoenas who excel in technology, arts and science.
Alongside Wikiwomen Launch, the club will also launch Wiki Covers Davao, an informal group of content creators, photographers, videographers and documenters who will learn the fundamentals of event coverage especially on festivals, sporting events, academic events and other significant community happenings.
WikiClub Davao will also hold their first WikiNights Davao, exploring the city after sunset turning the central business district of Davao into an open knowledge.

[edit]The event starts at 9:00AM and ends at about 7:00PM
This event is open to all Davaoenos and you may register. All you need is an active Wikipedia account to be able to register and join the event. A proper coordination with UIC is in place to accomodate visitors and joiners.
