Add topicTranslation suggestion support for your Campaign
[edit]Greetings @Another Believer and Vic Sfriso
I’m Uzoma, a Communication Specialist with the Wikimedia Language and Product Localization team. I noticed your upcoming Wiki Loves Pride campaign is coming up soon. I wanted to share a helpful feature that can make your campaign more discoverable to contributors.
The Content Translation tool now includes a translation suggestion feature. By adding a specific tag: <page-collection> </page-collection to your article list, participants can discover your campaign and join in by translating the articles in your list suggested to them in the Content translation tool. You can see how this works in the GIF below.
To add the tag, your article list needs to be on Meta. I have already replicated your Wiki Loves Pride 2025 on the English Wikipedia list here in Meta.
Having said the above, I seek your permission to add the tag to the replicated list in Meta to help more contributors find your campaign and begin working on it.
This feature can help determine if translation suggestions lead to more contributors engaging with important topics. You can read more about the Translation Suggestion: Topic-Based & Community-Defined List project here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Translation_suggestions:_Topic-based_%26_Community-defined_lists.
You can also learn how to use the feature through this link: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Translation_suggestions:_Topic-based_%26_Community-defined_lists/How_to_use_the_features.
Please let me know if you're interested in using this feature or have any questions. I’m here to help!

- Thanks a lot, UOzurumba (WMF). I will come back to this message soon and consider your recommendation. Best, Vic Sfriso (talk) 17:38, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks @Vic Sfriso; looking forward to your reply. UOzurumba (WMF) (talk) 19:03, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @UOzurumba (WMF), that sounds really useful. Is it worth us scheduling a conversation about what needs doing in order to make best use of the feature during the Wiki Loves Pride event? — OwenBlacker (Talk; he/him) 10:44, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @OwenBlacker, thank you for your interest in using the Translation suggestion feature for the Wiki Love Pride campaign. As for scheduling a conversation to discuss what needs to be done, we can do that for me to demo how the feature works so you can do what is needed for subsequent campaigns. It will take about 10 minutes of your time.
- However, if you don't have the time, there is no need to worry; I have already replicated the page in Meta: Wiki Loves Pride/2025/Article list on English Wikipedia. I can add the tag
<page-collection> </page-collectionto the page I have replicated in Meta for you. UOzurumba (WMF) (talk) 13:58, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
National WLP Events
[edit]Hello! Thanks for all the great work on this. Will there be a list to add national photo contests to? Kind regards, Sophie (Wikimedia Community Ireland) Cailínréalta (talk) 13:00, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Sophie!
- We are not thinking in creating national photo contests, but if you would like to have one in Ireland, we can consider it. As long as you can report that contest's participation and outputs, it should be fine. What do you think? Vic Sfriso (talk) 17:37, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Vic!
- Yes, we have organised one already and we do so last year also. Is that okay to go ahead? I think my colleague Amy has also been in contact previously about this. Cailínréalta (talk) 12:15, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, go ahead, Sophie! If you've done it before, we can do it again :) Vic Sfriso (talk) 13:08, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
