[edit]This page was wrongly created in the main namespace. Could an administrator please enable Event registration? Please register Geertivp as organiser of the event. Maybe it might be required to grant the "Event organizers" role to user MichellevL. --Geert Van Pamel (WMBE) 08:36, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
- Dear Geert,
- Since you have “event organizer” right, you should be able to trigger “Enable registration” button on the page; you can also try from Special:EnableEventRegistration. I can’t do it since I’m not Event organiser.

- Thanks for helping me several times in the past. Thanks for your tip. I have tried it, but it did not work; I get the following error: You are not allowed to enable event registration for the given event page. I have logged a "help request" at mw:Talk:Event Center/Registration/Instructions. I hope that somebody sees this message? --Geert Van Pamel (WMBE) 15:24, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
- The quickest workaround is probably to create another page (e.g. Event:Wiki Loves Public Domain 2), enable Event registration and request to an admin to remove the first page and to rename the second page over the original one.
- For now, I’ve reported your issue at Phabricator.

- Thanks. If I understand the problem well we could ask the creator of the page, User:MichellevL (WMNL) to request the Meta:Event_organizers role? --Geert Van Pamel (WMBE) 22:19, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
- To be able to quickly solve the problem, we decided to rename the current page, and to recreate it by myself having the Meta:Event_organizers role. --Geert Van Pamel (WMBE) 09:36, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

[edit]To be able to enable Event registration, this page was recreated (by renaming) because the creator requires the Meta:Event_organizers role. You can find the original contributions of this page at Wiki Loves Public Domain/First contributions --Geert Van Pamel (WMBE) 09:36, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
Willingness to join the event from Latin America
[edit]Dear @MichellevL (WMNL) @Geertivp @Martsniez:
It is a pleasure to get in touch with you. I am the coordinator of the project "Strengthening the Latin American Public Domain with Wikidata." I think that Wiki Loves Public Domain is a great initiative!
From our project, we would like to join in promoting the participation of users from Latin America in the event. For instance, we can add lists of Latin American creators and works entering the public domain in 2026, as you've already done with Dutch, Belgian and French creators and works. I've already translated to Spanish the event pages marked for translation (there are some that are not yet marked and so cannot be translated.)
I would also like to add some resources to the event resources, if you think they are appropriate:
- We have developed a tool in Toolforge, called Paulina, that allows users to easily search for works and authors in Wikidata, and identify whether they are in the public domain or not, which may be useful for the campaign.
- We maintain a Wikiproject called "Dominio Público en América Latina" ("Public Domain in Latin America"), that contains information on how to indicate, for a Wikidata item, that a work or author is in the public domain.
We can also think together about other ways to collaborate. Our main focus is on improving information about the Latin American and Global South public domain on Wikidata.
I would love to continue talking so we can collaborate in the best possible way. Best regards. Pepe piton (talk) 19:30, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- Dear @Pepe piton,
- I am happy to see that you want to join the project. Personally I would say feel free to adjust the documentation to point to your queries as well. Be aware that the Netherlands, Belgium and France have agreed upon an award during European Public Domain Day: https://www.pdday.org/
- I'll have a conversation with Wikimedia NL -BE and -FR to see if we can expand this to Latin America as well. Martsniez (talk) 14:23, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks @Martsniez! We are happy to join. We'll be adding resources and lists to the documentation in the next few days. As for the prize, we understand if you can't afford it, and we can think of an alternative from our side. Best! Pepe piton (talk) 14:52, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Martsniez We added some resources and a list of Latin American creators entering the public domain in 2026. I think we can also add a list of works in the same situation. Best! Pepe piton (talk) 22:18, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
