Feminism and Folklore 2026 in the Igbo Community

Feminism and Folklore Writing Contest, is an annual celebration of cultural diversity and gender inclusivity on Wikipedia. This contest invites passionate contributors to embark on a journey of documenting local cultural events, folk-related activities, and the often overlooked but significant contributions of women. As an integral part of the Wiki Loves Folklore (WLF) campaign, this project goes beyond the lens of photography, encouraging participants to craft compelling narratives through the creation and expansion of Wikipedia articles.
Feminism and Folklore 2026 in Igbo Community is a local writing contest aimed at improving Igbo language Wikipedia, Wikidata annd Wikiquote content related to feminism, women, gender, and folklore.
The campaign focuses on documenting Igbo and African folk traditions, women’s biographies, gender roles, and cultural heritage that are underrepresented on Wikipedia,Wikiquote and Wikidata.
This initiative supports knowledge equity by encouraging contributors to create and expand quality articles in the Igbo language.

Rules & Guidelines
- ✅ Articles must be written or expanded in the Igbo language.
- ✅ Minimum 3000 bytes and/or 300 words.
- ✅ Articles must be created or expanded during the campaign period.
- ✅ Content must align with Feminism and Folklore themes.
- ✅ No machine-translated or copyright-violating content.
- ✅ Reliable references are required.

- 🥇 1st prize: 300 USD
- 🥈 2nd prize: 200 USD
- 🥉 3rd prize: 100 USD
- 🏅 Consolation top 10 winners: 50 USD each
