Description
English: As is the case with so many Renaissance portraits, the subject of this painting is unidentified. Because of the clothing, it has been suggested that the man might be from the city of Bologna. The delineation of the contours (notice the way in which the man's silhouette stands out against the green background), the close attention to detail, and the fixed expression are characteristic of Florentine portraiture of the 16th century.
Date between circa 1523 and circa 1525
