Summary

Description
English: Solapur Fort was built in 14th century by the Bahamanis of Bijapur. It was a point of conflict between the Adilshahi of Bijapur and the Nizamshahi of Ahmednagar at various points in time. It was under Mughal rule in 17th century and Maratha rule in 18th century. The last battle between the Peshwas and the British was fought on 14th May 1818 at Solapur Fort. It is a land fort with water on three sides from the Siddheshwar Talav with access from north-west. It is a protected National monument. One can see a mosque and Kapilasiddha Mallikarjuna temple unearthed by the British while undertaking repairs to the fort.
