Description
Nederlands: Taziya (R-1045A-C)

Handwerk.

Handcraft. The ta'ziya was made in 2006 by Asgar Ali Khan, in the village of Kara Manikpur, Uttar Pradesh (state in northern India). This ta'ziya is made from bamboo and aluminum foil. The bamboo is bound together and wrapped in aluminum foil. It consists of three separate parts, two for the body construction and one for the dome. The four towers are made separately. There are two separate standards (alam), each with a spread hand at the top and decorated with a design of a shield and two swords. The construction is very light weight which makes it easy to carry in a procession, as well as for flattening it for burial at the end of Ashura.
