Decolonize the Internet

During its inception, the internet was seen as a vital instrument for democracy and equality. The internet we have today is not multilingual enough to reflect the full depth and breadth of humanity, and most online knowledge today is created and accessible only through colonial languages.

In light of this, the Goethe Institut has partnered with Open Foundation West Africa to organize the project "Decolonizing the internet." , This campaign focuses on bridging the unequal representation of voices from the Global South on the internet and aims at increasing Africa's content on the web by this, we encourage participants to write articles in local languages.

To participate in the D.T.I contest, all you have to do is to either translate an existing article in English or French to a local language or create a new article by writing in your local language, ensuring that the article is a minimum of 1.5 kB (1500 characters) readable prose in total.

Also, we have provided you with a list of articles in English to translate into your preferred local language.

Awards to be won include Laptops, Hard drives, Pendrives, Goethe branded souvenirs
