Fulfulde Wikimedia Commons Photographers Hub
Appearance
Fulfulde Wikimedia Commons Photographers Hub is an initiative of the Wikimedia Fulfulde Community. It serves as a network for photographers, volunteers, and cultural documenters who contribute photographs, audio-visuals, and media files related to Fulfulde people, language, and culture on Wikimedia Commons.
Objectives
- Build a growing collection of free-licensed media (photos, videos, audio) about Fulfulde language and culture on Commons.
- Train new and existing volunteers in photography, licensing, and uploading to Commons.
- Document Fulfulde heritage: cultural events, traditional clothing, landscapes, architecture, and daily life.
- Improve quality and quantity of freely available images from Fulfulde-speaking regions.
- Connect photographers and Wikimedia editors for collaborations across projects (Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.).
Activities
- Photo-walks & Expeditions: Capture and upload images of Fulfulde communities, landscapes, and culture.
- Training sessions: Workshops on Wikimedia Commons policies, copyright, and free licensing.
- Competitions: Local photo contests (e.g. Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves Folklore) with Fulfulde focus.
