Abstract
What will attendees take away from this session?

When you think of GLAM, medicine is usually not the first thing that comes to mind. Indeed, traditionally GLAM simply meant "Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museum". However, in the past 8 years this term as actually been used as an umbrella term for collaborations with varied types of institutions, including WikiTowns, photography contests, collaborations with Zoos, research centers, and -- collaborations with medical or medical-related institutions. This session will offer a (hopefully surprising) global overview of WikiProject Medicine Foundation's GLAM efforts around the world -- from collaborations with medical libraries and organizations such as "Translators without Borders", to Wikimedian-in-resident positions in medical-related institutions, offline app and Internet-in-a-Box. This session will also demonstrate the importance of such collaborations and will offer an opportunity to get involved in medical-related GLAM projects both locally and globally.
