GLAM Project with Nanda Talukdar Foundation

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

The Nanda Talukdar Foundation is a non-profit organization based in East Sharania, Guwahati, Assam, dedicated to preserving the social and cultural heritage of Assam. Under their Digitizing Assam initiative, the foundation has already scanned 1.3 million pages in collaboration with various institutions across Assam.

This GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) Project aims to:

  • Upload copyright-free scanned books from the Digitizing Assam project to Wikimedia Commons.
  • Create index pages for these books on Assamese Wikisource to facilitate proofreading and conversion to Unicode.
  • Promote community participation in preserving and freely sharing Assamese literary heritage.

The project is a collaboration between the Assamese Wikimedia Community and the Nanda Talukdar Foundation.
