Speakers Doug McCarthy is an expert on open access to culture and knowledge and has 20+ years' international experience in the GLAM sector. He works on digital strategy, user engagement and open licensing. Doug has been in and around Wikimedia projects for years, and previously worked at Europeana, TU Delft, Royal Museums Greenwich and more. He co-leads the Open GLAM Survey, and is currently Senior Open Content Specialist at Open Future.

Karin Glasemann has worked with digital access to cultural heritage for almost 20 years in different roles in the Swedish GLAM sector. Her work focuses on digital collection management, access through linked open data and open licensing. As GLAM partner, Karin has initiated several collaborations between Wikimedia and Swedish institutions like the Nationalmuseum or the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design. She recently joined Wikimedia Sweden as Chief Officer Operations.

Abstract Session participants will have a demonstration of CommonsDB, a prototype registry designed to enhance discoverability and legal certainty around openly licensed and public domain digital content online. Participants will gain a clear understanding of CommonsDB's purpose and functionalities, be encouraged to share feedback, and get inspired to see how CommonsDB could support their own work and that of Wikimedia communities.
