The GLAM Wiki Scholarship is open to community members who lack the means to support their participation in other ways.

Who should apply for a scholarship?

You should apply for a scholarship if you do not have the means to fund your own participation in any other way.

For example, if you can’t get support from a local affiliate or affiliate you’re associated with, or from your employer.

You should also be highly motivated in the topics, the theme, and the work related to GLAM Wiki activities.

Note: If you are based in mainland Portugal, do not use this form. A dedicated scholarship process will be announced soon.

Evaluation of Applications

Applications will be evaluated on three main criteria: the motivation for attending the conference (40%), the demonstrated financial need (40%), and the diversity, equity, and inclusivity of the conference (20%).

Due to the committee's capacity, applications will only be accepted in Portuguese and English.

What is included in the scholarship?

Scholarships include an international return flight ticket, accommodation in a shared room with one other scholarship recipient with breakfast included, travel insurance, local transportation in Lisbon, as well as lunch and refreshments during the conference days.

WMF Travel Team will manage the booking of flights on behalf of the scholarship recipient. Per the WMF travel policy, they can only book travel to arrive and depart on the approved dates (Arriving 29 October, departing 2 November, 2025). If you would like to pay to change the travel dates, you may do so after the flights have been booked. The conference organizers will manage the room assignments in the accommodation in Lisbon.

Other information

AI Policy: The committee encourages applicants to express themselves in their own words and style throughout the application. If you choose to use AI tools for purposes other than translation, spelling, or grammar correction, you must include the prompts you used. There is a specific field in the application where you can paste these prompts. Please note that the use of AI will not disqualify your application and will not be considered during the evaluation process. However, failure to mention the use of AI may result in disqualification if it is discovered later on.
