Why are you interested in the interim GRDC and what can you contribute? (max 1000 characters) I already have an expierience with funds allocation and grant eveluation and it'd be rather interesting for me to "jump" to the wider evel of planning.
Please share any volunteering or professional experience relevant for the interim GRDC (role, organization, years) (max 1000 characters) .
  • NWR-Hist User Group coordinator (since October 2019): This position brings a lot of variable tasks including allocation of resources in a situation of a global restrictions towards Russia-located entities and individuals.
  • Grans Committee member (since August 2021): at this position I've gained valuable experience of evaluating funds requests and reviewing other's budgets to understand their needs and requirements.
Describe your skills and experience relevant to the interim GRDC (max 1500 characters) Having experience in event and campaign planning (including financial planning) allows me to analyze plans made by others. Also, being on the grant committee has allowed me to gain experience in finances as they relate to the Wikimedia Movement.
Describe your understanding of the Wikimedia Movement's current resource distribution process. (max 1500 characters) Currently, in my opinion, resource distribution lacks proper planning (at least I can see some flaws, or, I have not a full picture of the process). And while the WMF's revenue falls, it becomes more crucial to plan accordingly instead of throwing some amount to a region based on previous years activities (that's how the Soviet economics worked and we all know that it didn't worked properly).
How do you think the GRDC could improve the current situation and which priorities do you think it should have? (max 1500 characters) As far as I can see currently the fund's allocation is based on retrospective and current ongoing activities, not on the plans and trends. Committee needs to adopt the analysing methods that will help to plan ahead without the gaps in support for affiliates and individuals.
By the end of the pilot in two years, what should the GRDC have accomplished and how should we measure its success? (max 1500 characters) In my opinion GRDC is a tool, and it's hard to measure the tool's success and acomplishments aside of the work in general. I think it would be great if by the end of the 2nd year Committee will be able to allocate resourses properly, so the situation with lack of funds we had last year in the CEE&CA region will never ocur again.
