Over the years, I’ve worked closely with local Wikimedia chapters and projects to develop initiatives that encourage underrepresented groups to contribute. I’ve been involved in organizing training sessions, mentorship programs, and outreach events aimed at demystifying editing and content creation on our platforms. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the challenges new contributors face and the importance of inclusive community practices. By the end of the pilot in two years, what should the GRDC have accomplished and how should we measure its success? (max 1500 characters) | By the end of the two-year pilot, the interim Governance, Representation, and Decision-making Committee (GRDC) should have demonstrated tangible improvements in transparency, efficiency, inclusivity, and strategic alignment within the Wikimedia movement’s resource distribution process.
Clear policies and frameworks for resource distribution decision-making. A structured and transparent reporting system that communicates funding decisions and outcomes effectively. Improved publication of clear funding guidelines, criteria, and workflows available to all stakeholders. Improved Equity and Inclusivity in Resource Distribution. And increased participation of underrepresented regions, languages, and communities in Wikimedia funding processes with fairer and more decentralized decision-making structures. |
