As of June 2005, the Wikimedia Foundation are continuing to talk with Google about creative ways in which they might provide support to the project. As well as the offers and partnerships mentioned at Wikimedia partners and hosts and Yahoo! hosting, the Board are digesting several other hosting offers. Wikimedia is planning or has recently launched facilities in The Netherlands, Belgium, and Asia, so it would be premature at this juncture to ask Google for something specific when we don't yet have good technical knowledge of what we will need in the coming months following the introduction of these new facilities. Google is eager to help us, and Wikimedia are eager to accept their help, but the Board wants to be good stewards of donor money, and this requires them to move carefully.
Please note that any agreement that is made will not mean there is any requirement for us to include advertising on the site.
See Wikimedia partners and hosts for details of other current and possible hosting arrangements.
