Wikimedia Gorontalo Community is a language-based community affiliated with Wikimedia Indonesia. Based in Gorontalo City, the community consists of contributors and volunteers working on Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia Hulontalo, Wikikamus Hulontalo, and Wikilumadu Hulontalo.

At the WikiNusantara Conference 2024, Gorontalo Wikimedia Community volunteer Marwan Mohamad was named the Best Senior Volunteer of 2023. This award is usually given once a year, chosen from volunteers who have contributed continuously for more than 10 years.

History

Volunteer editing activities at the Gorontalo Wikipedia Incubator began in 2014, but no community was formed until Wikipedia's launch in 2018. At the WikiLatih Gorontalo event on January 11-12, 2020, an initiative to form a community emerged on the final day of the event. Thus, the Community's birthday was set for January 12, 2020.

1. Wikipedia Hulontalo is Wikipedia in Gorontalonese, released on April 18, 2018.
2. Wikikamus Hulontalo is Wiktionary in Gorontalonese, released on January 4, 2023.
3. Wikilumadu Hulontalo is Wikiquote in Gorontalonese, release on October 1, 2024.

Grant

1. WikiTeroka (2020) Article writing competition on 4 local Wikipedias with a prize of a free scholarship to attend the 2020 WikiNusantara Conference in Padang, Sumatra Barat
2. WikiTeroka 2.0 (2021) The challenge of writing articles on the Gorontalo Wikipedia.
3. Mopolayi’o Wiktionary Gorontalo (2022) Development of Wiktionary Gorontalo content by volunteers who are still in the incubator.
4. WikiTeroka 3.0 (2022) The challenge of writing articles on the Gorontalo Wikipedia.
5. Wiki Molamahu, under WikiTeroka 4.0 (2023) The challenge of creating a lemma complete with example sentences in the Gorontalo Wiktionary
6. WikiMolamahu 1.1, under GSF23 (2023) Developing Gorontalo Wikipedia content: photographing sub-district and district offices in Gorontalo City to complement Wikipedia articles and creating new articles about famous figures from Gorontalo.
7. WikiMolamahu 3.1, under GSF24 (2024) Content development for Wikiquote Gorontalo, which is still in the incubator. Selected volunteers collaborated to create new articles for Wikiquote with specific goals. With this project, Wikiquote Gorontalo successfully transitioned from the incubator to the permanent domain.
8. WikiMolamahu 2.1, under WikiTeroka 5.0 (2025) Competition to create lemmas and accompanying example sentences in Wiktionary Gorontalo.
9. 25 lo Taawunu Wikipedia to Hulontalo, Celebration of Wikipedia's 25th anniversary by the Gorontalo Wikimedia Community in Gorontalo City.
