Metrics and results overview - all programs[edit]

We are trying to understand the overall outcomes of the work being funded across our grantees' programs. Please use the table below to let us know how your programs contributed to the Grant Metrics. We understand not all Grant or grantee-defined Metrics will be relevant for all programs, so feel free to put "0" where necessary. For each program include the following table and

  1. Next to each required metric, list the outcome/results achieved for all of your programs included in your proposal.
  2. Where necessary, explain the context behind your outcome.

Telling your program stories - all programs[edit]

Please tell the story of each of your programs included in your proposal. This is your chance to tell your story by using any additional metrics (beyond global metrics) that are relevant to your context, beyond the global metrics above. You should be reporting against the targets you set at the beginning of the year throughout the year. We have provided a template here below for you to report against your targets, but you are welcome to include this information in another way. Also, if you decided not to do a program that was included in your proposal or added a program not in the proposal, please explain this change. More resources for storytelling are at the end of this form. Here are some ways to tell your story.

  • We encourage you to share your successes and failures and what you are learning. Please also share why are these successes, failures, or learnings are important in your context. Reference learning patterns or other documentation.
  • Make clear connections between your offline activities and online results, as applicable. For example, explain how your education program activities is leading to quality content on Wikipedia.
  • We encourage you to tell your story in different ways by using videos, sound files, images (photos and infographics, e.g.), compelling quotes, and by linking directly to work you produce. You may highlight outcomes, learning, or metrics this way.
  • We encourage you to continue using dashboards, progress bars, and scorecards that you have used to illustrate your progress in the past, and to report consistently over time.
  • You are welcome to use the table below to report on any metrics or measures relevant to your program. These may or may not include the global metrics you put in the overview section above. You can also share your progress in another way if you do not find a table like this useful.

  Quality Content

In the Quality Content program, we have been focusing on a broad range of activities related to the production, access, and usage of the quality content. This program is not just about quality content, however. It’s also about the ways we engage quality content editors, resources we create to support the editing process, and more. The editors, GLAM partnerships, and digitization we work with are all engaged in this program.

In this reporting period, we have accomplished the Wiki Loves Monuments project. Overall 138 people participated in the project by uploading 21100 pictures of various monuments in Armenia. Wikimedia Armenia organized tours in different directions by sending small groups of volunteers. Due to this campaign a lot of pictures were uploaded in Wikimedia Commons which ensured the 3rd place among 48 countries.

Having the goal to make free knowledge available for everyone we continued to digitize books and record the pronunciations of Armenian words for Wiktionary.

  Community

Wikimedia Armenia always structures and plans its projects in a way that allows the community to build and develop their capacities. We also empower the community to come up with new interesting initiatives and support them with requested resources.

Wikimedia Armenia organized Strategy Salon for the Armenian Community, where the Core Team presented the overview of Strategy Process. This was an effective platform for Armenian Wikimedians to discuss the structural reform of the Wikimedia movement.

As Wiki Loves Monuments project was approaching, Wikimedia Armenia decided to organize a training focused on the Wikimedia Commons. The participants were presented the quality and legal requirements of images used on Wikimedia projects, the copyright terms and usage. Using examples, participants were presented how to upload photos to Wikimedia Commons and fill in the required details.

  Education

In the past three months Wikimedia Armenia organized two Summer Wikicamps for 9-15 and 16-18 age groups. The participants were editing in 3 Wikimedia projects - Armenian Wiktionary, Wikisource and Wikipedia. The Wikiteam was also responsible for quality checking of the content written during the camp. The organization team used a new method for the newbies’ teaching process. The experienced editor students of each group who expressed willingness to share their knowledge with their groupmates, taught the editing tools and rules to their fellow friends. The usage of this method made the teaching and learning process more smooth and effective as it is always more comprehensive when the students of the same age explain the editing tools to each other.

According to the memorandum singed between Wikimedia Armenia and the Governor of Tavush region, in this reporting period 11 Wikiclubs were founded in various community schools in Tavush. As the Governor promised, the teacher-coordinators of the Wikiclubs are sponsored (financed) by the Tavush Regional Administration. It was decided to open around 80 Wikiclubs in the schools of Tavush, so to further enhance the project, at the end of August Wikimedia Armenia organized another training for both beginner and experienced teachers from Tavush. During two days, the experienced participants deepened their knowledge of editing, learned new editing tools and skills. They received answers to many of their questions. Created and improved articles that were discussed with the participants, identified shortcomings and ways to eliminate them.

Beginner participants created accounts on Wikipedia. With the help of experienced contributors, they began editing, getting acquainted with the basics of editing, the ideology of Wikipedia, and making the first edits.

  Western Armenian

After the creation of the Western Armenian Wikipedia Wikimedia Armenia continued its efforts in development of Western Armenian content. The new action plan was developed based on the lessons learned of the previous years and applied some new approaches to engage more editors worldwide.

Based on an agreement with the “Spyurk” Scientific-Educational Center, Western Armenian Wikipedia project coordinator joined from July 2 to July 26, 2019, the annual Diasporan Teachers’ Training in Armenia and during three weeks of the event carried out workshops on editing in the Western and Eastern Armenian Wikipedia and Wikisource for the diasporan 35 western and eastern Armenian teachers attending the training. It is a continuation of last year collaboration,

To develop Western Armenian Wikipedia, also, to enhance ties among the community, Wikimedia Armenia organized a gathering for Western Armenian editors. Due to the gathering editors gained more knowledge about the editing process in terms of practice and theory.
