Local Wikimedia Community and organizing team
[edit]Wikimedia Community User Group Tanzania has been playing an active role of bringing together Tanzanian Wikimedians since 2016. The user group has managed to convene Wikimedians gatherings in the past including Capacity building training for East African Wikimedians in 2019 which was held in Dar es Salaam and from since the User group has been actively engaging and collaborating with other East African wiki communities around establishment of East African Regional and Thematic Hub (EARTHub). The User group has a vast number of people with events and conferences organizing capabilities,currently two of its members are among the COT members serving to organize Wikimania 2025. Moreover, some of its members has experience serving as Wikimania 2022 COT and also served as a COT member for at least 2 past WikiIndaba conferences.
Community alignment
[edit]Tanzanian Wikimedians and Swahili Wikipedia administrators have been consulted on the idea where they strongly endorsed the idea to use this opportunity to create a potential opportunity for collboration, enhancing partnerships, capacity building and networking. Most of the African Wikimedians too have been engaged and notified on this through Afrika Baraza where Affcom announced the final decision for Wikimedia Tanzania to host it. Wikimedia Tanzania User Group will be working to collborate with other Wiki communities within and outside our country (EARTHub) communities to co-plan and organize the conference.
Location and date
[edit]The conference is expected to happen in November 2025 in Dar es Salaam. The exact dates for the conference will be announced later.

Cultural/Religious considerations and competency
[edit]This is the annual conference for African Wikimedians including those who live in diaspora.It is an opportunity to come together to discuss relevant matters affecting African Wikimedians in relation to their efforts to contribute to Wikimedia movement and the free knowledge ecosytem at large.
