Project summary
[edit]Briefly summarize your project proposal.
- This project aims to increase the amount of content on Wali Wikipedia (Incubator) by creating and translating articles on a variety of topics, including Ghanaian towns, notable personalities, art, and feminism. We would also focus on adding more Wikidata items and labels to improve data accessibility and multilingual support for the Wali (Gur) Language. The initiative is a continuation of our efforts to empower the Wali-speaking community to contribute to and access knowledge in their native language, thereby preserving cultural heritage and expanding digital literacy.
Furthermore, the project would also incorporate Wikimedia Commons as a key component to enrich the project's visual and multimedia content. We would focus on uploading high-quality, freely licensed media such as photos and videos related to Wali culture, history, and the broader topics covered in the project (e.g., Ghanaian towns, personalities, art, and feminism). This effort would not only support the Wali Wikipedia articles with relevant imagery but also contribute to the global repository of open knowledge, making Wali cultural heritage accessible to a worldwide audience. Our primary goal is to bridge the knowledge gap by making information about Ghana and the world available in Wali, a language with limited online presence.
