Wikimania 2016 Feedback Survey Privacy Statement[edit]

This statement describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive as a result of this survey. Please note that this survey is powered by Qualtrics, which means Qualtrics’ use of your information is governed by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Purpose of Survey[edit]

We appreciate your feedback! This short survey will help us gather feedback from attendees to Wikimania 2016 in Esino Lario, Italy to see if expectations were met, to better understand the impact of Wikimania events, to understand the demographics of attendees, and to evaluate how future Wikimania events can be improved.

What Information We Collect[edit]

This survey collects the responses you provide to the questions asked, your email address, your IP address, and geolocation information. If requested by you in writing, we may allow you to access, change, or delete the information you have provided to us at our sole discretion. Please do not provide sensitive information in the open-comment boxes regarding your race, ethnicity, philosophical beliefs, political beliefs, political party membership, or affiliation with trade associations.

Information Sharing and Disclosure[edit]

You hereby release all content contained within your responses to this survey, except your email address, under a CC0 1.0 Universal License, meaning you dedicate your responses to the public domain and anyone can use the content included in your responses in any way.

However, we will only share the results of this survey in anonymized or aggregated form, meaning your CC0-licensed responses will only be released in anonymized or aggregated form. The raw information collected will only be shared with the Wikimedia staff, contractors, service providers, and volunteers who need to process this information and are subject to nondisclosure obligations, with the exception of the circumstances described below. We may disclose any collected information when required by law, when we have your permission, when needed to protect our rights, privacy, safety, users, or the general public, and when necessary to enforce our Terms of Use or any other Wikimedia policy.

Wikimedia is a global organization committed to promoting free and open knowledge. By submitting your response, you agree to the transfer, storage, and use of the collected information to the United States and other places as may be necessary to carry out the purposes and objectives discussed above.

Wikimedia understands the importance of user privacy. For this reason, we work to protect our users from the unauthorized disclosure, use, or destruction of information we maintain. The results of this survey may be retained indefinitely, both the raw responses and the aggregated data. See our data retention guidelines for more information.
