Grants:IdeaLab/Connecting Wikipedia with open databases
Project idea[edit]
What is the problem you're trying to solve?[edit]
We, IT developers, data scientists, students, ... need data in structured form for automatic processing. Wikipedia contains plenty of useful lists with data that cannot be used because they are plain-text format. Other projects like dbpedia will never work because we need to store data on a single place and that is Wikipedia.
What is your solution?[edit]
Instead of storing data in wiki markup lets store them in structured form. Wikipedia can generate pages using this data. As a simplest solution for example Google Spreadsheets/open CSV files/... can be used.
Who will you be doing outreach with?[edit]

No funding needed?[edit]
Does your idea not require funding, but you're not sure about what to do next? Not sure how to start a proposal on your local project that needs consensus? Contact Chris Schilling on-wiki at I JethroBT (WMF) (talk · contribs) or via e-mail at cschillingwikimedia.org for help!
