Grants:IdeaLab/Increase visibility of the Gender Gap in all Wikimedia Projects
Project idea
[edit]What is the problem you're trying to solve?
[edit]Even with all the efforts done up to this point, there is still an urgent need to make people aware of the gender gap in Wikimedia, since many users don't consider it a problem and even fewer think it should be a priority.
What is your solution?
[edit]Allowing a space for a permanent section in the Main Page of every Wikimedia project for updates on the Gender Gap would be in itself a meaningful message regarding the importance given to the problem.
It would also raise awareness among editors and visitors, and would provide a easy access to updates on the different projects and activities related to the gap.
It would also require a team to keep track of the activities, find different ways to measure the gender gap in each project and keep all data up to date.
Goals
[edit]- Establish an organized team dedicated to internal research on the gender gap: causes, consequences, size, variations in time, etc.
- Centralize the information regarding ongoing projects, activities, and gap measuring.
- Increase visibility of the problem as well as the collective efforts being made to fix it.
