Project idea[edit]

What is the problem you're trying to solve?[edit]

Wikipedia contains so-many separate domains, each of them needs separate userpage, and many other problems exists.

What is your solution?[edit]

Much more connected, synchronized pages. One-account for all. Only One-account (having one user-page, one inbox , one contrib-list, etc.) for all-domains, such as Wikipedia, Wikimedia commons, MediawWki, etc.

This can be done in 2 ways :With change in only 1 user-page, all-the user-pages could be changed (synchronized). or more-simply,2. Same user-page could be seen in all the place.

Since I'm logging into so-many different user-pages, with same username & password (same Web-identity), there I found No need for so-many separate pages. It is confusing, complicated, and make it difficult to find all-the changes .

If someone want write different text in separate domains, or want to sort inbox/contribs domain-wise, it could be done as separate 'Folders' ( or also could be done as 'Links' ) under same account.

  • I have found even just using one tool - Hovercards - that I have to activate them in Preferences in every different Project, which seems daft. I make minor contributions in a number of non-English Wikis and don't see any messages unless I'm logged on in each one. I see no reason for this, and would welcome one unified domain - or at least main settings and actions that occur across all domains by default. Parkywiki (talk) 22:52, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
  • Good idea but I think it is already being done. Cross-wiki login has been around for a long time, cross-wiki notifications were just rolled out, etc. As for beta features, keeping them separate cross-wiki can be a good idea because e.g. hovercards work well on EN wiki but suck at RU wiki because of a bug related to a popular template used in RU wiki. Also, the user pages on different projects serve different purpose, e.g. someone's profile on EN wiki may be different from their profile on WikiCommons. SSneg (talk) 07:23, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

@SSneg: It is true that someone's profile on EN wiki may be different from their profile on WikiCommons. But From one main user-page, more-than one folders/ sub-pages/ etc , could be available, to display in separate wiki-domains... if someone wants to show different-information on different-domain. It will much-more user-friendly.RIT RAJARSHI (talk) 05:25, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

Resolved[edit]

I can see 2 major changes in Wikipedia

1. I do not require typing multiple duplicate user page. Meta-Wiki user pages are automatically copied into several domains.

2. Central log in feature helping me to log into many of the domains with single Wikipedia account.

That is of great usefulness and convenience. Thanks and regards.
