Goals

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

Yes We successfully meet our goals, what we mentioned in our Grant proposal. We have successfully completed the Rickshaw announcement campaign, Hoarding boards at different place of Rajbiraj and Meetups with interested group of peoples.

Yes, We are very happy doing this project. Through the beginning, We work hard to achieve our goals. We use our experience to connect more people to visit Maithili Wikipedia. The news about this promotional campaign was published in local newspapers of Rajbiraj.

Activities

To engage new readers for Maithili Wikipedia, the members of MWUG initiated Rickshaw announcement to inform the local people of Rajbiraj about Maithili Wikipedia. The announcement was done in all the 16 wards of Rajbiraj in 4 successful stages. Apart from the Rickshaw announcement, we have fixed the Maithili Wikipedia Content's related Hoarding boards at the most important places of Rajbiraj as well as in 7 e-rickshaw to promote the campaign. We also arranged an orientation class at Galaxy Higher Secondary School to give our Wiki related knowledge to students of 10+2 of science and management stream. At last, we arranged meetup with interested people of Rajbiraj which includes students, writers, journalists and socially aware people.

Rickshaw Announcement

The Rickshaw announcement helped us to reach among peoples of Rajbiraj to introduce them with Maithili Wikipedia. The campaign most important task is to complete this announcement.

We also tried hard to get students into the campaign. That's why we included students of Galaxy Higher Secondary School, Rajbiraj to give them knowledge and usage of Maithili Wikipedia and Wikimedia Projects.

We managed to fixed the Maithili Wikipedia Content's related Hoarding boards at the most important places of Rajbiraj as well as in more than 7 e-rickshaw to promote the campaign.

Meetups

We have successfully organized the Meetups regarding Maithili Wikipedia and this promotional campaign. We meet with different students and peoples of Rajbiraj. We also managed to meet with a group of writers, journalist and socially aware people.

I participated in a session about Introducing Wikipedia to New Readers at Wikimania 2018 as a part of panel. I talk about the promotional campaign of Maithili Wikipedia in Nepal.

Rickshaw announcement was really exciting because it help us to gather group of people.

Time management, otherwise everything goes under the plan.

  • What would you do differently next time?

Well, We expect to organize an open space meetup (eg stadium, school ground etc) with maximum number of peoples to spread information regarding Maithili Wikipedia.
